Few more apps are standing out in Android Application platform!

Photo editing was so far a matter of Photoshop and a few related software. But Android came up with camera feature that can heat up the photo and movie editing skill of any user.
Earlier Android had camera features. But this time new version of Android's camera is just better than previous one along with some must-have applications. Most importantly, mega pixels of the camera are larger than ever before with each new android device. And it really hits the market.

Some time user may need a little bit LOMO touch on your snap which you might have taken in a party, or you want to crop a stranger part of the snap. There are few must have Android apps for taking and editing perfect photos.

PicSay is an interesting photo editing app that let users correct color, crop images and add texting in word balloons. And feature like applying special effects on the images are added to this app. Adding sticker-like graphics to the photos is another interesting feature for the users. This app helps users apply more sophisticated effects such as cross-processing and color splashes etc.

FxCamera is for a bunch of fun, cool effects to photographs. It offers few effects including ToyCam, Polandroid, Fisheye, SymmetriCam and Warhol etc. One can compare this app with several popular iPhone camera apps like CameraBag, Picoli or PhotoBox etc. Photoshop.com Mobile lets users crop and rotate images, adjust color and apply effects, although this app is little slow. It lacks some important features photo filters and a wide range of visual effects.

Vignette app adds film and flash effects to the Android camera's arsenal. It has 15 frames, crop features and a self-timer and zoom. It also offers 46 Effects including Lomo and ToyCam filters, Polaroid-style effects, cross-processing and tilt-shift. Camera ZOOM FX packs a slew of useful features. It offers 40 photo effects, zoom functions, photo bursts, timers, stable shot, white balance, grids and sound activation.

Finger Paint is basically a version of MS Paint for Android. It's a touchscreen interface that allows the user to color and draw over photos. Snap Photo Pro offers multi-shot bursts, a timer, brightness and contrast adjustment, stability mode, zoom features and photo filters etc. Camera Illusion lets users add effects, masks and filters to their photos in real-time. User can apply ASCII filter if he or she wants to get truly nerdy.

Apart from these applications and features, there are ample ranges of third party applications available in app market. In this regard, third party Android Application Developers are also playing the lively role in the thriving epoch of Google's Android.

Tips on how to use your Holga Camera from giftlab and photographer Elliot Muir

HOLGA PUNK

words and pictures by Elliot Muir

Whenever art or culture gets too sophisticated and tidy, you’ll usually find some creative insurgent unpicking it all, urgently trying to find something random and rootsy underneath. The Holga camera is the latest incarnationof lo-fi chic, and is currently ripping up the red carpet of mainstream digital photography. Holga is unashamedly the worst camera ever made. All the flaws that grown-up camera manufacturers have spent decades trying to eradicate are joyriding around her insides. Technically she is classed as a toy camera, but don’t be fooled – in the right hands she’s a serious creative tool with the potential to make your brain glow rainbows.

Part of Holga’s great charm is that her users require hardly any photographic experience to start making quirky images. By far the best approach is to shoot first and ask questions later, but here are a few tips to help start you off.

WHERE TO BUY:

Buy your Holga online at giftlab or lomography Be very careful on ebay, most of them come from Hong Kong and include a Free Gift!! but you may have to wait2 Months!! for delivery. If you can’t wait, then try the photographers Gallery in Covent Garden, but be preparedto pay more. You shouldn’t ever pay more than around £40 or £50 for a brand new Holga.

FILM:

Generally, most pros will agree that pound for pound, film yields more vibe than digital. Holga has been built to work with high grade 120mm film, which is fairly near the top of tree in terms of image quality and resolution. You usually get what you pay for – cheap grade consumer film is a false economy. To find out more, have a good look at the lomography website – then check out ebay or 7dayshop for the bestprices.

SHOOTING:

• Always make sure that the little switch on the bottom is set to N – this is the Normal setting. B stands for Bulb and you only use this at night for long exposures. Return it to N after making long exposures or you’ll blur and overexpose all your shots.
Holga needs a lot of light. You’ll probably find that you have to use flash for most shots that aren’t in bright
sunlight.
• Be careful with the back of the camera, it has a tendency to fall off and wipe your film. Opening the back of the camera very slightly with film inside will give you ‘light leaks’ – magical peachy stains of retro analogue authenticity. They’re great.
• Pimp up your Holga. Go to squarefrog and holgamods for detailed advice on modificationsand experimental techniques.

PROCESSING:

Most Holga people get their films processed by mail order. One popular place is spectrumimaging but also try spectrumphotolabs– they’re a bit more expensive but the quality of their work is faultlessand they still do proper processing. On the high street, Snappy Snaps and Jessops are good, but pricey.

SHARING:

Show your pics on Flickr and you’ll soon get an idea of what works and what doesn’t. Flickr group forums are thebest place to find answers to any technical difficulties you may have.

SUCCESS

Holga is rapidly gaining acceptance as a legitimate tool for both editorial and fine art photographic work, so there are some pretty exciting new opportunities opening up. Just remember not to take it too seriously; Holga works best when you leave space for chaos.

To check out another Holga camera, the Diana+ go to giftlab.

photography Portfolio

photographers are known through their profiles

A photography portfolio is like a resume or a portfolio that a super model creates to promote to the public. A well written profile can do wonders for the photographer since the first contact with the art critics and public is through this medium.

As in any profession it is important to sell oneself and the promotional technique used will determine how successful or otherwise an artist would become. One must learn this art of seductive persuasion for attracting the public to make a beeline for one's Galleries.

What are the steps of preparing a Photography Portfolio?

All good things happen in threefold! Let us consider the 3 most important steps to achieving a write-up that everyone will think is written by a professional copy writer!

The first step one should take is conceptualizing the USP of your art. By USP we normally mean the Unique Selling Proposition but in our particular case let's rename this acronym as Unrivalled Self Portrait! What needs to be written or included in good and effective personal achievements in the artistic world?

What ever you have so far completed in terms of picture composing should be placed as a theme in your Photography Portfolio. The theme is what you do best in photography and must be illustrated with an aesthetic design of your theme work.

Maybe you are a black and white photographer of the abstract kind, or a realistic current affairs political events reviewer in pictures, or dedicated to the artistic bent of mind that young children depict and need to be encouraged etc. Always plan your theme presentation before choosing or taking appropriate photographs.

Secondly, be very careful and judicious in picking your best photographs and in case you require a new set for the chosen theme, take pains in creating new photos. A photography profile cannot be just a collage of photographs. They must be systematically placed in the profile document to tell a specific story to the reader.

Out of a multitude of pictures to your credit you must only choose the very best that exhibit your artistic talent and place them interspersed between short text that enhances the art form. It is not that length of your resume matters so much as the relevance of how you promote your acumen towards the theme art being depicted. This makes up the gist of a professional photography profile.

Thirdly and finally you are ready to exhibit your work in the form of a portfolio. This is just what a super model or budding fashion model also does! Become a true salesperson and visit local art collectors and critics who matter.

Learn the art of online and offline marketing to approach your family, friends, acquaintances and show them your aptitude in a subtle manner. Remember, you cannot really promote yourself by giving lectures and talks at seminars etc, but you can surely sell your artistic bent of mind or "camera fingers" by creating an extraordinary photography portfolio.

Buying A Digital Camera To Replace Your Old Film Camera

I'm very conservative when it comes to buying myself new "toys". I don't buy every new gadget that comes out, but when I do buy – I get the latest technology and the highest quality I can afford. That way my investment holds its value for a long time and I'm not tempted to replace it so soon.

I didn't buy a digital camera when they first came out. All you could get were 1 megapixel models with no optical zoom capability. Maybe a good replacement for the cardboard throwaways you get at the supermarket, but I much preferred the quality images I got from my (now 20 year old) Nikon 35mm SLR film camera.

When I finally did buy a digital camera a few years ago, I picked up a slightly used 2.1 megapixel from Olympus digital camera with a 3x autofocus optical zoom. At the time, it was as good a value as you could get when buying a digital camera, but technology being what it is – it's now considered a midrange consumer level camera.

Well, while I'm still satisfied with my Nikon film-based camera, I've been thinking about buying a new digital camera for a few months now. That's because I've seen the amazing shots that my friends have taken with their cameras, and I want to be able to get the same results. In addition, I'm using my 35mm SLR much less these days just because it's so much more convenient to use my digital camera, and I've got a bag full of film that I've never found the time to have developed. It's finally time to buy a new digital camera to actually replace the 35mm camera.

Towards that end, I've been reading online guides and digital camera reviews to catch up on exactly what to look for when buying a digital camera. This research is very helpful, as I evaluate which cameras are easy to use, produce high-quality photos, come packed with features, and are the best bargains. In fact, these resources make the task of buying a digital camera easier than I imagined it would be.

Since I've been doing all this research beforehand, I'm ready to make my purchase now that I've decided that buying a digital camera is the right move for me. I've read about people getting fantastic bargains from online stores, so that's where I'll look first. I also read store reviews as part of my research into buying a digital camera, so I know which websites were trustworthy and which ones to avoid. As a result, I'll be able to complete my purchase without a single problem.

Now that I've made the decision, I really can't remember what was preventing me from buying a new digital camera a long time ago! I can't wait to get it so I can play around with the settings, and try out the different features that are available on these newer digital cameras. If you ask me, this is the way photography was meant to be.

If you've been thinking about buying a digital camera, I recommend that you go ahead and do it sooner rather than later. You'll be amazed at how much easier it is to take pictures with this kind of equipment and how much better the pictures turn out.
