So I know that Sam from Beauty and the Geek has been in a lot of movies and TV shows, and Rebecca was in America's Next Top Model, but do you think that these people were cast for the show or hired to be on it? It never mentioned that Sam is an actor, they just called him a club promoter, so by hiding it are they trying to make it seem like he is not an actor? I like the show but I think reality TV should at least have real people and not all of these fake romances.
I think they were probably cast for it through auditions. A lot of those people who go onto one show try for others. They see it as a way to get famous.
I really didn't like having a guy beauty on the show, though.

Where can I find casting calls for movies, shows, etc...?
How can I do casting casting calls? How can I find them? What do I do? I have no experiance with these things, but I want to do acting and modeling (but if that doesn't turn out like I want, I'm proably going into nursing or something...). WHere can I find casting calls, and what do I need to do to get in?
Yeah the Criagslist answer isn't bad, but the best resource I have found is Backstage's casting call search engine. You can narrow down what you're looking for by location, job type (union film, tv, etc.), and include particular keywords.
I'm going to a casting call soon at Model Club, Inc in Boston Ma and I don't know what to expect. I don't have that much acting experience, but I take drama class at school and I'm planning on taking acting, singing, and dancing lessons over the summer. They said I don't need to prepare a monologue, I just need to bring 3 home photos. What should I wear, what pictures would be best, and what should I expect?
I was once "interviewed" at Model Club, Inc when I was a bit younger because I was interested in modeling. I have to tell you to BEWARE of them, because in my dealings with them I learned they are a scam.
I got a callback from them after I sent in a form and some pictures. I was really excited because they told me I would be interviewed. When I got there the place was really small and there was a huge line of kids waiting outside who apparently also were asked for an interview.
The "interview" turned out to be cramming all of us into a really small room where we all sat on the floor. An old guy who literally looked like he had been beaten up the night before (he had a huge black eye) kept talking about the agency. It went on for about an hour of him just talking, occasionally asking the kids (though not me) questions. Eventually he got around to telling us that if we were accepted we would have to pay 500 dollars to have out pictures taken and be featured in something called "The Book." They told us if we didn't pay for this that it would be very hard for them to find anyone work. They then spent a long time trying to convince us on why it would be worthwhile to pay this fee.
There were hopeful actors in the group of people as well, not just models. They were not asked to read or perform anything. In fact they just sat there the entire time along with the rest of us and did not do anything different from the hopeful models.
After the guy spent a really long time trying to convince us that if we were "accepted" that we should pay the fee, we basically formed a line to talk to a woman who appeared to be a secretary. She spoke to each person for maybe 30 seconds and then sent us on our way. The people there told everyone that we would have to call to find out if we were accepted.
My parents called a few days later and found out that I got in. But once again they were trying to sell us on paying 500 dollars for "The Book." My parents said they would not be paying. Over the next few weeks we got some strange letters from them which kind of sounded threatening and aggressive. The gist of the letters though was that if we didn't join and pay that there would no longer be a spot for me. We had made up our minds on it being a scam.
When I was there I also learned that some people showed up there after being "picked" for a callback at a model scouting event. This event was something I also had gotten in but avoided because they wanted you to pay a ridiculous fee. I wanted to avoid being scammed so I applied to Model Club Inc only to learn that they were associated with THAT SCAM as well! Most agencies that call back lots of people from scouting events turn out to be scams, as I later learned out.
Anyway, after my experience with Model Club I found out that other people have had the same experience as me and walked away with feeling like it's a scam.

Hi!
I was wondering if its better to go online or have a newspaper subscription to backstage west? Is there even a difference? Different types of auditions? Which is better for looking for casting calls/ auditions? Thanks!
Newspaper is always the better way to go.
All the best
