Maruti Alto

The most popular common man's car is here to meet the expectations of people. Maruti Alto has gained a reputation which perhaps no car has been able to get till now. The succees has been tremendous. Thanks to its partner Suzuki's competence in building small cars, Maruti Udyog has been able to offer some of the best hatchbacks in the country. The Alto is based on the Wagon R's platform but has an identity of its own. It has a clean silhouette and a minimalist design minus any frippery. The word 'Unpretentious' would describe it the best. A chunky front bumper, a dashing front grille and a bold 'S' badge are among the new design cues on the front fascia.

The Alto is equipped with ample interior comforts; a super cool A.C., electronic power steering, and convenient cup holders among them. It also offers fabric seats, a moulded carpet, a luggage compartment carpet, cabin lamp, an electronic tripmeter, a floor front console with cup holders, a floor rear console, a glove box and front door pockets. It has an ultimate combination of luxury & comfort.

Its interiors are noticeably cramped in comparison to those of the Zen. Headroom is ample though passengers in the rear may be hard pressed for legroom. Seats are comfortable enough. The dashboard is strictly utilitarian with an easy access to navigate large instrument cluster, besides a number of little niches and storage pockets. Cargo space is plentiful too. The décor, despite being uninspiring, is hugely practical; it works.

The Alto's standard safety features include side impact door beams, a child safety lock, clear lens headlamps, rear caps, a collapsible steering column, a high rigid monocoque frame made of high tensile steel, front and rear seat belts, booster assisted brakes and rear seat head restraints.

The Alto is equipped with a 796cc engine that serves up 46 bhp worth of power and 62 Nm of torque. A 5-speed, all synchromesh, manual transmission is standard in the Alto. The front suspension has a McPherson Strut with torsion type roll control device, while the rear sports coil spring gas-filled shock absorbers with three link rigid axle and isolated trailing arms.

The ride quality is pleasant and comfortable but handling does not exactly measure up. Steering is spongy at times. A stiff suspension soaks up bumps like a pro. Brakes are hugely responsive too. A stiff chassis gives the Alto its fabulous driving character.

The Alto is Maruti Udyog's subcompact offering to India and the country's one of the most popular cars in the small car segment. It Cardekho, Maruti Alto, Alto, Maruti Suzuki Alto is exported to numerous Southeast Asian countries (including Sri Lanka and Bangladesh) and Chile.

The Alto is currently available in three variants: Maruti Alto Standard, Maruti Alto LX and Maruti Alto LXi. It borrows from Maruti 800's tried and tested engine technology, therefore delivering optimal performance.

The Alto, with its compact dimensions and sturdy built, is just right for the Indian roads. Besides, it needs minimal maintenance and is extremely fuel efficient, making it just the perfect car for the average Indian working class. In addition to this, Maruti's wide service network and the lure of this little car is perfectly understandable (especially at its price).

The Alto has received a couple of minor upgrades on the interior as well as a new sporty looking grille and a much more substantial bumper. It has also received two new colors, Caribbean Blue and Wine Red.

Hidden Cameras: Which Type Do You Need

Hidden cameras are an important component of a surveillance system.  They can record sureptitiously and can be an effective means to monitor activities and provide evidence in case of a crime or a violation.  Get to know the different types of hidden cameras to determine which one is right for your needs.

Nanny cams
A nanny cam is a type of hidden camera that generally has the most basic functions.  It's single focus, stationary and has low to average image quality.  The nanny cam is a good choice for a hidden camera meant for general use such as home or office monitoring and surveillance.  It works very well for a limited area, such as a small or mid-sized room but may not be recommended for large areas.  The image quality is often not sufficient to allow the user to obtain a sharp image from afar, say -- 20 to 30 feet away.  For closer monitoring though, the nanny cam works very well.

The nanny cam is also the type of hidden camera that is usually disguised as something else.  It could be installed on a wall clock, for example, or a stuffed toy or even a picture frame.

Portable hidden cameras
This is a type of hidden camera that is smaller than the usual, which means it can be installed in just about anything.  A portable hidden camera can also be worn, which makes it ideal for personal or face-to-face monitoring or sting operations.  These days, hidden cameras of this type are also equipped with audio capability in order to capture sound.

Usually, the hidden camera contains a transmitter which sends signals to a remote receiver.  This allows for a real time live feed of the images and audio captured by the camera.  In some models, the hidden camera comes with an SD card that will record images and audio digitally.  These can later be uploaded onto a computer for viewing.

Sensor-driven hidden cameras
Some hidden cameras, particularly those used for home or office security, are equipped with a built-in sensor.  This sensor detects movement, which makes the camera ideal for 24/7 surveillance.  It will only turn on if and when movement is sensed.  Otherwise, the camera remains on standby.

In terms of energy use and efficiency, the sensor-driven hidden camera is an excellent choice.  It will only record if activity occurs.  It can also be set up to set off an alarm if motion is detected, alerting security officers or homeowners.

Night vision hidden cameras
Night vision hidden cameras are equipped with infra red technology.  This allows the camera to record images even in low light conditions.  Some high-end models can even record even in the complete absence of light, which makes them ideal for areas such as the backyard, garages, parking lots and store rooms.

Night vision hidden cameras can be excellent for surveillance or home security needs because they do not rely heavily on a strong of light just to record any activities.  As such, it can be used night or day without anyone knowing that it had been installed.

Casting Calls in Pa

casting calls in pa

As the credit crunch digs its heels in, those of us who love our holidays have all been left wondering how we will be able to get the holiday feeling in 2009, without spending too much cash.  France is well known as one of the most popular destinations for British overseas holiday-makers, but most of the crowds head for the south – to beachfront holiday rentals in Provence and villas in amongst the sunflower fields.  But even the south of France is a bit of a trek for those in search of week-long holiday rentals in France as an escape from the daily grind.

Just across the border from Belgium and a Channel crossing from England lies Nord-Pas-de-Calais, a region which is often overlooked in the rush for the south. Its major city is Lille which the crossroads of train travel between London, Paris and Brussels.  Here the landscape beautiful and varied, and the range of holiday rentals demonstrates a melting pot of histories and cultures. This area of France is very proud of its heritage, as any tourist will see from its museums and monuments, not to mention historic towns and cities dating back to the Romans. The region itself is clearly delineated – Normandy to the west, Belgium to the east, and the white cliffs of Dover to the north – visible on a clear day.

It is the location which makes holiday rentals so accessible at any time of year. Despite its convenience, it is not heavily populated; the countryside is covered with forests and meadows – with sandy beaches and soaring cliffs along the coast. Aside the landscape, Nord-Pas-de-Calais is brimming with things to see and do – holiday rentals are a popular holiday choice and there’s no place better for you to assimilate yourself with the region’s culture.   You do of course have to accept that the weather may not be guaranteed as it is in southern Europe.  However, Spring, Summer and Autumn often present fine and sunny (even hot) days, and when the days aren’t so good, there is no shortage of things to keep you busy.

The landing grounds of Dunkerque and Boulogne give sharp reminders of a tragic chain of events – World War two casts a long shadow here. The world famous Somme battlefield is nearby. However,  finding holiday rentals here needn’t be entirely introspective. If you step back in history even further you will find a huge mediaveal influence - the Flemish beer and French gastronomy leave visitors fully fed and watered. For the foodies who visit, the plethora of tasting tours and food markets enable any self-catering holiday to become a gastronomic experience in its own right.

Visitors to France have difficult decisions to make – should they choose holiday rentals on one of the stunning and varied coastlines, or would they be better off based in an inland holiday apartment? A ski chalet in the mountains, or a wooden house by a lake? Urban, or rural?  France will offer you most than sufficient holiday rentals in all of those options, and so much more besides.

Wedding Photography Tips

Wedding Advice?

I'm an amateur photography, and mainly do scenery and pets/ wildlife. Well the manager of my building knows I freelance and asked if I would do pics of her sister's wedding. Nothing big or fancy she said. Well, I know how people are with weddings, the pics have to be really good lol. My photography instructor said along with night photography, weddings are the hardest.

I prefer film but I will also shoot digital for the occasion. Well, I don't think I'm going to do it, I don't want to mess up their wedding. Anyways, weather I take the job or not, can anyone give me some basic on how to do a wedding, like whats desirable and what not? From what I assume, it will be indoors, but the reception will be outdoors in the back of the establishment.

I shot my boyfriend's mom's wedding...I definitely felt the pressure and these were people I'm very close with so if I screwed up, I would have been forgiven. I definitely wouldn't call what I got , but the reception was in their garage so the lighting was very poor and all I have is my and the 18 -55 mm that it came with...so I was more than a little limited. But I made it work to the best of my ability. I only have a few on here, but you can look at them if it helps. Most of them are more of the "details"..I of course took a bunch of family shots and lots of ones during the wedding and reception, but I don't have them uploaded.

Automotive Photography

automotive photography

The Pirelli calendar is one that's eagerly awaited by all and sundry involved with automotive matters and , but 'sundry' rarely ever gets to own a copy. Even so, there is always keen interest in both the models, the photographer/s shooting this exclusive calendar, and how the models are depicted in the calendar.

One of the most striking, and yet subtle, calendars from this tyre company came several years ago when the tyre tread pattern was tastefully depicted as an element of the whole image. This time around, the thirty-fifth, Pirelli has a more commercial motive behind the choice of models - Pirelli's increased presence in China with the opening of a new tyre plant. So, along with the inclusion of Chinese models in the calendar, the theme of the calendar focuses on Shanghai, along with its teahouses and former colonial areas.

The photographer is Patrick Demarchelier, originally from the small French sea town of Le Havre. He is possibly most well known as being Princess Diana's official photographer - historic because he was the first non-Brit to photograph the royal family. This is Demarchelier second time as the Pirelli calendar photographer - the first was in 2005 in Rio de Janeiro in exotic, sultry Brazil.

The 2008 edition has (disappointingly for those expecting a skin show) 23 portraits, the odd number due to August having just one. The selected models include Agyness Deane and Lily Donaldson (UK), Doutzen Kroes (the Netherlands), Catherine Mc Neil and Gemma Ward (Australia), Sasha Pivovarova (Russia), Coco Rocha (Ireland) and Caroline Trentini (Brazil). The Chinese beauties are Mo Wan Dan, Du Juan and Maggie Cheung, the latter is an actress known for her roles in Chinese and English films like Police Story, Super Cop, Actress, Chinese Box and others.

Du Juan, whose name means both the Azalea flower and the Cuckoo bird, was the first Asian model to grace the cover of French Vogue. Mo Wandan was born in Guangdong Province, China. She trained in track and field, but quit after injury. After she participated in, and won, the China Model Star Contest in 2004, she was signed on by a modeling .

You've just won the lottery, or suddenly discovered a great inheritance. Whatever the reason - the important thing is that now you're rich. But there's a catch, there always is. It's not what you're thinking though - you don't have to sell your soul, far from it in fact. The only is that you have no choice but to spend all the money in a single year, and no safe investments allowed either.

Now you can really rub your hands with delight - you may actually enjoy this yet. If you like to travel the world, and have even a hint of petrol in your veins, here are a few good tips on how you can make the most of it:
Another legend of the sport and multiple F1 champion, Sir Jackie Stewart, termed the infamous Nurburgring - 'the Green Hell.' At the time, the track was both revered and anticipated for the challenge it presented, but also dreaded for the threat it posed. Sir Jackie, a forceful proponent for safety during his time in F1, once exclaimed that if he were ever to go around the track slowly, and in doing so notice the real dangers it posed, he may never race there again.
