Green Screen photography is gaining more and more in popularity, especially among small studios that wish to bring something new and innovative to their business - something that the large corporate photography studios don't even bother with. Green screening, also called chroma keying, is the type of innovative technique that can give a small studio the critical edge needed to smother the competition. Moreover, if your studio can carve out a niche with a specialty such as fantasy photography, you'll stand out in the vast photography field.

In the world of green screen photography, there is the fantasy-theme option known as "sword and sorcery." This includes the well-known game Dungeons and Dragons, and stories such as "Lord of the Rings." These pictures are shot with the client in an authentic costume, posed in front of the green screen with a suitable weapon, such as a bow and arrow, sword, or wand. Then, add digital background scenery such as breathtaking views of nature or ancient architectural structures -- especially castles. And here's a tip: If the client wants to come across in the with a soft, mystical look, fasten a piece of nylon to your camera lens with a rubber band. Instant dreamy mystery.

Science fiction is another widely used fantasy-theme choice. The more obvious of this genre would be "Star Trek", "Star Wars" and "Babylon Five". But it also includes steam punk (a Victorian era character who uses steam to power today's technology) and the time and inter-dimensional travel character of "Dr. Who." This particular niche come complete with thousands of costumed characters who are eager to be photographed. Here are some ideas for unforgettable : For shots on a space travel theme such as Star Trek, create the Enterprise's observation deck, featuring a large window looking out onto a vast blanket of stars, or the Ten-Forward cantina, using a contemporary bar scene for the background. For steam punk, choose interiors of old Victorian homes.

Yet another category that can combine elements of the first two is that of fairy tales. Fairies and other gentle creatures are the stars of these photos. Magical landscapes that relay an air of mystery and a bit of mischief work well for this genre. Remember, the fairy tale scenes aren't just for children or costumed characters. There's another unique group who love these particular photos: school senior girls. Consider shooting their portrait with them in their prom dress, but then placing them in this mystical land. This ensures you provide them with instant magic and joyful memories.

Finally, the last niche which can fit inside of all of these, yet also is all by itself, is that known as Anime and video game cos-play. For these types of photos, look into a lot of Asian inspired locations (both interior and exterior) as well as dilapidated locations such as an old warehouse or the remains of an ancient civilization.

The most important factor to remember when you take a fantasy picture is that, no matter how odd or extravagant the costume is, and no matter where the setting is supposed to be, if you can make the photo realistic, your client will return to you time and time again.

Children Photography Poses

The last thing that a bride and groom want on their wedding day is to have generic pictures to remember their special day by.  Most couples go to an immense amount of trouble in order to ensure that their wedding day is something to remember not only for themselves, but also for their guests.  By making a unique experience, you can be assured that your wedding will not only be amazing for the couple, but also for your friends, family, and other guests.  One way to do this is to use creative wedding photography.

Creative wedding can insinuate a lot of very different things.  One instance is couples who encourage guests to take their own pictures of the occasion, generally using disposable cameras that the wedding party collects from each table after the reception.  This is a nice idea to make everyone feel like they have a special part in your special day.  Unfortunately it generally produces grainy, out of focus, dark pictures that are rarely usable, little less the pictures that you want to show your children and grandchildren when telling them stories about your wedding.  A much better alternative is to instead hire a wedding photographer who knows what it means to literally think outside of the box.

A professional not only adds a touch of class to your wedding, it also ensures that you will have pictures that you will gaze at for the rest of your lifetime together.  A creative wedding will utilize all of the artistic aspects of the occasion.  They can take advantage of different lighting situations that your amateur photographers might use to blow the pictures out of proportion.  A professional photographer can also use different angles and lenses to make the most of the photographs.  By enlisting the talents of a creative photographer, you really can retain beautiful memories of a very special day.  A professional photographer can see the beauty in something odd, out of place, or mundane that you might miss, especially when confronted with the whirlwind that is a wedding.  The results of this particular talent are often very unique and beautiful when these elements are taken out of context, frozen as a single element on film for you to enjoy.  So rather than having the highly posed, contrived pictures to remember your wedding that are so prevalent, or the dark, out of focus, random pictures that your friends might take for you with a disposable camera, you will have beautiful, quality, original photographs that remind you of all of the elements of your wedding that you could have glazed over at the time or forgotten briefly in all of the excitement.  Enlisting the aid of a professional creative photographer will ensure that you have those memories preserved not only for you, but for future generations.

Childrens Photography Blog

childrens photography blog

I firmly believe that now is the most exciting time ever to be a photographer, and to be shooting stock. There are more tools and more opportunities than ever before. The playing field has been leveled. The demand for images, and consequently stock photography, is exploding.

Of course, there is more competition than ever before, a glut of in the market place, and tremendous downward pressure on prices. Still, over all, I believe the opportunities outweigh the difficulties. Let's take a look at some ways to get a stock career going in these exciting times.

To succeed in stock photography think long term

There isn't a professional I know who doesn't look back at his early work and cringe at least a little bit. I know that while there are images from early in my career that I am still proud of, there are definitely images that are embarrassing. Even now there are at least four images in my Getty collection that I actually wish they would take down. Oh well. To actually be able to earn a living from stock is going to require a significant body of work. That will take time to build up. While you're building up your body of work there are other, at least in my opinion, important steps to take.

Create a web presence

Get a web site up to showcase your work. Optimize for the search engines. There is no doubt in my mind that there people looking for stock will increasingly be looking for and finding stock pictures on the web sites of individuals as well as agencies. I personally am preparing for that by migrating my images on to my site and providing links to the agencies that carry them. If you want to, or need to, market and license your images yourself there is an increasing array of tools to help with that process. It is getting easier and easier.

Create images that are needed

Study the market to find out where the holes are. I am guessing that the market does not need a lot of businessmen on cell phones. But there are plenty of images that the market does need. Find those holes and fill them with images that you have passion about shooting. Study the images are used in magazines, on book covers, bus shelters and on the web.

Search the web and search on the agencies to see where there is a need for images. Put yourself in the shoes of someone looking for an image to advertise your business. Just yesterday I put myself in the shoes of a business owner and searched to see what I could find. I started out imagining myself as the owner of a dry cleaning business. I came to the realization that, at least in my mind, there is a definite need for images in that business sector.

It is amazing that with the unfathomable number of images out there, the number of "holes" is so encouraging! Also, there is always a need for concept images such as "teamwork", "success", "standing out from the crowd" and others that are new and different. You can't go wrong with quality concept images.

Focus on Quality

Quantity is important, but quality is more important. Quality content is increasingly vital. In the early days of stock quality was not an issue. It is now. Recently, Yuri Arcurs, the world's top micro stock shooter, who has also been shooting traditional stock for a year now, told me that he believes shooting successful micro stock is more difficult than shooting for traditional stock, that the standards are actually higher. Whether that is true or not, the quality bar has been setting awfully . Consider it your job to raise that bar even higher.

Slow and steady wins the race

As you create your quality, relevant, images, submit them to agencies, post them on your own site, optimize that site, and stick to it. Like the tortoise and the hare, one day you will wake up and realize that all the time and effort have been worth it. You will be your own boss, can work from anywhere at what you love to do, and have an income stream that is only limited by your willingness to do what it takes.

Disney Channel Auditions and Casting Calls

Auditioning for parts, in film, television, theatre, commercials and modelling jobs can be a nerve-wracking experience. Many people cope with the pressure by simply not showing up for the audition, by not having a proper resume and recent picture that looks like them. Some are ill prepared so that they have an excuse if they don't get picked.

Perhaps a wannabe actor might give a bad audition, because they are sure, deep down, that they are not going to get the part. Maybe they are right, maybe they are not quite right for that part, but if they are right for another part, with another director, they are blowing that opportunity as well.

The entertainment industry is in essence a small one, where many people have worked with each other before. If you audition for something and are not right for it but give a good audition and look as if you have good work habits and are ambitious and motivated, the director will remember you for another part. They might recommend you to someone else. The people might remember you when they themselves are doing another project and your name will come up.

There are many people I see, who give a good audition, but they aren't quite right for that part, but when another director asks me about people for their projects, I will usually recommend the actors that have given good auditions, auditions that show that they care about their careers.

If someone bails on me, or gives an ill-prepared audition there is no such recommendation forthcoming. An audition gives the director an idea about your work habits, your talent, and your ambition.

Directors are building a team not a self-help group. If you look like someone who gets the job done and does not need a lot of baby-sitting, if you put your best foot forward talent-wise then you need not worry about rejection because good news like bad news is viral. Everyone will start to know about you, for good or bad.

Christmas Children Photography

christmas children photography

I really got excited about photography when I had my children, but my favorite thing to do was send Christmas cards out to everyone. You can really achieve a more professional look without too much trouble. First thing, turn off your flash. Flash can really ruin a when not used properly. Professional photographers almost never use the flash that comes with the camera. Now that you have it off, we can proceed.

Dress children in coordinating colors. For Christmas, bright bold colors work best for children. Prepare your bribe. Yes, bribe children. Seriously, not every child wants to take pictures, and it can sometimes be trying to take pictures of your own children. You know your babies though. If you want to hold out on bribes until absolutely needed, you get to do just that. This is your photo shoot.

Now that they are dressed and aware of their reward, or it is ready for emergencies, let's pick out a spot for . If you want inside, angle your children at a 45 degree angle to a window. Turn off all lights. Indoor lighting can wreck havoc on photo. Only professional equipment or natural light should be used to light a subject. Now snap away.

I am not a fan of too posed photographs, so let your children be themselves. Sing funny songs. My kids think singing the wrong words to a song is hilarious. Make this a fun activity. If you think tears are coming, stop and let them regroup. You do not want to send out Christmas cards with red eyes and runny noses.

If you are shooting siblings, ask them to kiss ears or other specific parts on the side of their sister's or brother's head. Simply saying kiss them means you more than likely will get a picture of the back of one child's head.

Now, if you want an outdoor photo, find shade. You want to position the child without the sun shining on them. Sounds strange, but sun can create dark shadows on their faces. Place them in an area where they are not in the sun and the sun is not dappling on them. Again, start snapping while singing your silly songs. Act like a fool. Your kids will love you for it. Don't be afraid to check your pictures as you snap. If your kids have dark spots where their eyes should be, move them or have them look in a different direction.

Next and the easy part is to go to an online photo shop like Shutterfly or Mpix. Pick your card. Change the picture to black and white or keep it as a color shot.

I really enjoy . Activities like these are what led me to create Ramsey Garza http://www.ramseygarzaphotography.com/.
