Baby Memory Book
You Are Invited To Our Baby Shower
"We are having a baby!" This is probably the greatest news for the parents-to-be. Having a baby completes the married couples’ lives. An angel is coming to color their worlds…to strengthen their bond.
To welcome their little bundle of joy, friends and family usually throw a baby shower. It is when the mom-to-be is literally "showered" by gifts by people close to their hearts. It is a celebration of love and life. A celebration of the love of the couples for each other that brought a new life to the world.
As time goes by, baby showers evolve from traditional to contemporary. Baby gifts during this occasion also follow. From the most practical ones like diapers and other baby essentials to unique and personalized ones such as scrapbooks.
I have listed below the most practical baby gifts and the unique and creative ones as well. Check out the list I made and it will surely help you choose the perfect gift for your little angel.
First on my essential list is what I call the "diaper package". This is a very popular baby gift that mommies and daddies to be could use immediately after the baby is born. From the name itself, it is consist of baby diapers, baby wipes and other important baby needs. Baby could really feel mom and dad’s "T.L.C." with this adorable gift.
A baby shirt is also a very darling baby gift. Also on my essential list, baby shirts are also very helpful for our new parents. But you must see to it that it doesn’t have too many strings, buttons and snaps so that it is easy to take on and off.
Next on my list is baby’s feeding set. A very handy baby gift which is consists of baby bottles, bottle holders, bibs, bottle brush sets and the like. Watch baby grow each day together with these baby should-haves!
On the other hand there are also expensive but very sensible baby gifts. Examples of which are the baby strollers, changing tables, high chairs, potty chairs and the like.
For unique baby gifts, I suggest baby books, personalized scrapbooks and baby keepsake treasure box.
Baby books are perfect examples of unique baby gifts. Books about parenting and child care could aid new parents in rearing their newborn child. To add personal touch to these gifts, it is best to write your own special message on the first page of the book.
To add a new twist on gift giving during baby showers, I recommend a personalized scrapbook. This will help the parents-to-be keep baby’s pics so that when baby is old enough to understand, he/she will be very happy to look at the fond memories of her when she was a baby.
Lastly, is the baby treasure box. Also a unique baby gift, it can just be made of ordinary carton boxes. Pimp it up by painting or drawing vibrant pictures. Baby’s own pics can also be used as deign to make it more personalized. Just like the scrapbook you can place in the treasure box baby’s old personal belongings such as clothes and toys. Baby will surely be amazed to see how mommy kept her little somethings!
Babies deserve only the best in this world. They are worthy of all these material gifts we could give. The happiness and comfort brought by giving them these adorable gifts is priceless!

Creating a Memory Book or Memory Quilt for Your Child
A memory book celebrates your baby or child's life in a visual way. You can do anything you want when you make a memory book. The easiest start to make one is merely to get a three-ring notebook or photo album and make pages of photographs of your child and your family. Show a record of her or him growing up. You may also want to add some extras like a snippet of hair from the first haircut, their hospital bracelets or footprints, first samples of their drawing, pictures of their friends, report cards, certificates and awards from school, etc. You could also write little anecdotes of things your child did or said.
With a memory book you need to make a decision at what point you will pass it on to your child. You can avoid this decision by having two memory books – one for you to keep always and one for your grown-up child. Another way to do it is to wait until your adult son or daughter seems to be settled in their first house after college or after their marriage or first child.
Another way to preserve memories is to make a memory quilt. A memory quilt can be a blanket or a wall hanging. You collect items of clothing as your child outgrows them. You cut the clothes into squares of the same size and save your collection until you have enough to make a blanket or wall-hanging. You can also use pieces of blankets or sheets. Be sure you cut a sample that is not worn thin. On blankets and sheets the outside edges are usually in the best shape. For clothing you would avoid the area covering the knees or the seat of the pants.
Another way to make a memory quilt is to use all new fabric with a different approach. You could make each square a representation of some part or event of a child's life. Each square would be embellished by appliqué, embroidery, scanned pictures, iron-on letters, fabric paint or whatever you like. You could ask important people from the child's life to contribute a square or two and to sign their square with their name.
Whatever you decide to do, you should have fun with it. The value of the gift of a memory book or memory quilt is not in the expense of the materials or the expertise in its construction. It is about creating a gift of memory and showing your child you love them.
